Name

mom_in_gc — Ensure that the (biological or adoptive) mother of a young chimp, and all the mom's young infants, are in the group composition data

Synopsis

BOOLEAN mom_in_gc ( chimpid,
  rgid,
  date);
VARCHAR(5) chimpid ;
BIGINT rgid ;
DATE date ;

Input

chimpid

A CHIMPIDS.ChimpID value of a possible infant.

Any “in-group” ChimpID may be supplied. The function performs all necessary filtering regards age, existence of mother, and so forth.

rgid

A RAW_GROUPS.RGID value identifying a group composition.

date

The date of the group composition.

Description

mom_in_gc adds the (biological or adoptive) mother, as well as all of the mother's young infants, of the chimp identified by chimpid to the group composition data identified by the rgid when the chimp is less than 5 years old as of the date supplied in the date argument. The group composition is unchanged when the chimp is older than 5 years old, and also unchanged if the mother is already in the group composition. The mother added must be in the study population as of the supplied date. When there are multiple (in-study) adoptive parents the most recent adopter, on or prior to the supplied date, is added to the group composition, regardless of the presence or absence of other parents in the group composition.

mom_in_gc calls infants_in_gc() on the added mother to ensure that young infants are in the group composition with their mothers.

Caution

This function does not check it's arguments. It assumes that the supplied date is the date of the supplied group composition and that the supplied chimpid is in the supplied group composition.

When inserting a RAW_GROUPMEMBERS row the ChimpID value used is the BIOGRAPHY_DATA.AnimID of the (biological or adoptive) mother, the Origin value used is always A, and the Uncertain value always FALSE

A TRUE value is returned if a row for the mother is added to RAW_GROUPMEMBERS, FALSE is returned if not.
